Buy a set of templates. Use them. Take note of what you liked and didn't like. Then make yours better ;-) Next tip. Danny (sneaky businessman) I'm serious. How many businesses don't check out what's working for the competition? To View More >>

The search patterns in the store are showing very, very clear trends. People are looking for... Album Companies (eg "Queensberry","KISS","graphistudio" etc) Album Formats (eg "10x10","12x12","10x14" etc) Orientation (eg "Vertical", "Horizontal", "Landscape" etc) And dare I say it, "Free" is pretty popular. Our search feature looks through most of text that you enter when you set up the product you're selling (eg title, description, author, search tags etc). Next tip. As a photographer I'm sure the thought of losing your sight must be horrifying. So here's a little inspiration. Amazing teenager Ben Underwood was blind but got around almost as well as sighted people by teaching himself to "echolocate". This video was voted one of the most inspiring on the web on Mashable. NB: Ben sadly passed away earlier this year, but his inspirational story proves that no obstacle is insurmountable. Cheers, Nigel To View More >>

Being able to see aperture numbers on your layouts can be very handy, for example when you're trying to identify a specific aperture that the Problem Reporter has suggested you check out. However they're not always visible, so when do they appear? By default, Aperture Numbers only appear when the Problem Reporter is open. However, you can toggle them on and off at any time through the Album menu. HTH Cheers, PJ Support Team To View More >>

He always found it difficult going to a new supermarket ... so he stuck with the one he had used for the last five years. He knew where the dried apricots were, and the gluten free pasta was always down the third aisle on the second shelf up. He didn’t see the need to be a supermarket slut chasing the best price on freshly dug potatoes. He felt safe. He shopped safe, and a diversion from the standard shop might be an adventurous purchase from the delicatessen's department. He liked that nothing changed except the weekly special. On holiday recently he went shopping with a friend and suddenly To View More >>

Have a range of products to buy. Good. Better. Best. Or do combo deals. Three for the price of two etc. (You'll need to create a separate "product" as the store won't let you discount.) Next tip. Danny (sales coach) To View More >>

Caring is an attractive quality we're all drawn towards on some level. We notice when people care for us, or someone else, or some thing. And it makes us feel good. Take Gail or Natasha or Sonya here at Queensberry. They make people feel good all day because they genuinely care about the person on the other end of the phone. And trust me, people notice it. When looking for a wedding venue, we noticed how much one venue cared even before we'd visited. They wanted us to have the fullest experience possible when visiting their venue, so suggested we come by one Saturday morning before a wedding, and To View More >>

One interesting option is how many template thumbnails you should have in the item listing. There's two sides to this one, but I think showing too few is a mistake. There's a fear that people will copy them if you show too many... I understand, but people are buying templates to save time so I wouldn't worry too much. I'd show at least 25% or so of my templates - enough to get a good idea of what you're offering. Next tip. Danny (how about that - up to Tip #92 already) ;) To View More >>

Templates with thumbnail images (real images, not just blank apertures) definitely sell more templates and get more attention. Next tip. Danny (feeling factual today - no frills) PS Of course you need permission to use the images. That's why Team PJ's own templates are blank. But they're free, so people don't mind. To View More >>

Yesterday our own self-confessed obsessive Johannes wrote about obsessive coffee brewers and photographers. How's this for an obsessive soda pop shop? Forget about Coke and Pepsi, John Nese has everything (else) you could dream of. And if he doesn't he's looking. Seen on Seth. More obsessives on Chow Hound. Cheers, Ian To View More >>
