The industrious PJ developers have certainly been busy. They've just posted another new beta that builds on the last release, v1.26. Put them together and we have a transformation. Ever since we first released Remix we've been asked to simplify and streamline the workflow, and we believe we've done that here. As you can see from the screen shot, album set-up has been transformed - reduced to a single screen that can gather up all the information an album vendor needs to make your album (click on the images to see them full-size). This particular screen shot is to order a Queensberry, but the options To View More >>

Continuing our tour of the major new features in the latest beta, check out this movie on Queensberry Connects about the FTP functionality we've built into v1.26b. We've added an upload function to the Order Wizard so you no longer need LabFTP. It's automatic, so you don't need to think about it – Remix just uploads everything the supplier needs. Even our resident geeks like not having to think for themselves. Occasionally. Cheers, Ian PS The Order Wizard only works with participating album suppliers - we're happy to talk to yours! Remember your first time? Doing whatever. Maybe photographing your first wedding? Years back when Subway turned up in New Zealand it took me 10 minutes and enough questions to drive mum up the wall to finally place my order. Why? Because I didn't know how. I've just committed to spending a lot of money on our wedding photography, but before I did, I was nervous. Not so much because of the money, but because I wasn't sure what I'd get for it. It was my first time. I'm in the industry, talk to photographers all the time, and write articles about marketing and business every day. But I still felt To View More >>

I see something cool somewhere and have to share it with my ten best friends ... and some of them like it enough to share the love ... You know the rest ... actually the same works for the flu. So there I was prowling the Digtal Wedding Forum and saw this little baby and thought, Wow! I have to show all the people who haven't seen it yet. This is not about me trying to discover something new, but sharing the love. hugs, Johannes PS Didn't somebody at Olympus do a great job? [He wants one - Ed] To View More >>

"You don't want a photographer - you want a storyteller ... "The camera is just a tool I use to tell the story ... "I don't work for you." Paul Edwards from the [b] School explains his philosophy about photography... Food for thought. Cheers, Nigel To View More >>

How much is an experience worth? (Contains a movie plot spoiler...) If I said to you, "Yeah, in the end the shark gets it," would you still go to the Jaws movie? I could tell you there was blood, pretty girls, lots of really stupid people in boats and a very big angry shark. It could never match the experience, just spoil it. What is that experience worth? Apparently it was worth $260,000,000 in the US alone. If you give your clients a good experience, what is it worth? What is it worth when they tell their friends? I can't tell you enough how valuable the experience of you is to the Bride and To View More >>
Go on, click - you're curious. OK, what I'm suggesting is you're good if you're good enough to compete with a memory, or a cherished snapshot. Cheers, Ian PS Two fer one: She's no lady, she's my wife. To View More >>

Heather remembers the first time we saw this video of the Pogues' Fairy Tale of New York: Christmas 1987. She was sitting in a cane and burnt red suede wishbone rocking chair she'd made herself - not sitting in it, sitting on the very edge of it, transfixed by the music and the video - the wrenching sadness and the lilt and love of the song. We already knew the Pogues, having thrashed Rum, Sodomy and The Lash (yeah, sounds dodgy, but listen to it) for a couple of years. Every time we think of Shane MacGowan we hope he's OK. He's given us some magic hours. All the very best for the holidays To View More >>

The stranger in the coffee shop looked at us, almost as if we were insane, and said in a tired voice, "Sleep while you can!". It was an ominous warning, over a month ago. We were (Jo was) a month off giving birth and at the time sleeping was getting uncomfortable. On June the 2nd, 2009, Ida Valentina van Kan graced us with her arrival. 7lb 3oz of beautiful girl. [caption id="attachment_3365" align="alignnone" width="500" caption="Ida Valentina"][/caption] After 10 days the warning seems premature. Sleep isn't too bad, in fact we feel incredibly lucky. I am learning things from her. She will let To View More >>

Final feedback from my email, Your next album company Unless you have someone on the ground talking to people you are never going to get the real story... That comment's from the UK, where we actually do have someone on the ground – take a bow, Jo! But Jo, a Londoner, is the exception not the rule. Most of our client support people work from New Zealand. Gino, for example, gets up really early to talk to people in North America, while Kirsten works really late to help Jo with the Brits. But it's great to meet people face-to-face, so why don't we base more people locally? First, where would To View More >>
